From the outset, OSA has been dedicated to supporting art in the schools and the community at large. In 1993, OSA added a youth scholarships program to its ArtReach activities to support the future training of young visual artists residing in the Ojai Valley.
To date, OSA has funded almost $150,000 in scholarships and other ArtReach programs, including books for the Library, and repairs for the Ojai Art Center. Proceeds from OSA’s Annual Studio Tour, together with private donations, fund the ArtReach initiatives.
ART SCHOLARSHIPS 2014
Art scholarships are available to eligible high school seniors and college students who are residents of Ventura County and who are pursuing a career in visual arts, such as Painting, Graphic Arts, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, Art Education, etc. Applicants are eligible to receive one scholarship award in a given year, with a maximum of 4 scholarships over several years. Three scholarships each in the amount of $1,250 will be presented: The Vivika and Otto Heino Scholarship, The Beatrice Wood Scholarship, and the Ojai Scholarship (available only to an Ojai resident).
Professional artists who are members of the Ojai Studio Artists jury the entries. Presentation of awards and display of winner’s work will take place at the Ojai Valley Museum on one day only: Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 4-6PM. Selected work should be delivered to the Ojai Valley Museum on June 7th at 12 noon.
Ojai Studio Artists (OSA) is a 501c3 California non-profit organization. As part of our educational outreach program we provide scholarships to deserving art students at the high school and college levels. Scholarships are financed by donations and funds raised during the Annual OSA Studio Tour, which will take place on October 11th and 12th this year.
