Shahastra is interested in the transformational qualities of artmaking and works to transfer that spirit into images and forms that inspire and provoke. Her present interest is in interior landscapes—the symbolic realms of the soul—using oils and acrylics in an exploratory approach. This work is less outlined, more unpredictable, using nature's symbology and the language of color and light. Emerging from this open process, patterns and drippings transform themselves into statements honoring the deep beauty of natural form and the illusive qualities of soul.
