Life is full of mystery and there’s beauty to be found everywhere and in everything, yet sometimes I have to look deeply to find it. Often, when I pick up my camera, it brings my attention to how connected we all are to each other and to all things, as well as to the space everything appears in. From that perspective I notice the mystery and beauty appearing all around me. The camera and lens are tools I use to express it. Even in portraiture. Each person in front of my lens is invited to open themselves up to me. My hope is to capture them free of the roles they play in life and the masks we wear for each other. When that happens, it’s precious, but most of all, it’s fun and freeing.
