Jeff Mann

During my 25 year tenure at George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), I collaborated with some of the most amazing talent of the day to create the Visual Effects, Spaceships, Creatures, Characters and Miniature Sets for iconic films such as Star Wars Episodes 1, 2, 3 and 6, Indiana Jones 2 and 3, E.T. The Extraterrestial, Star Trek II, III, and IV, Poltergeist, Men In Black II, The Mummy and more as well as many Commercials.

Born in Hollywood I had a true American Graffiti youth. Hot Rods, Monsters, Comic Books and Surfing. I spent the '70's living and working on the Sausalito Waterfront and studying Art.

I received a B. A. from San Francisco State while studying with Robert Bechtle and Richard McLean of the Photorealist Painter movement in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I spent 7 years restoring and sailing the "Lene Marie", a 1910 106' LOA Danish Top Sail Ketch while earning my USCG Masters License for 100 ton Sail and Power vessels.

During this time I created a live/work space on the Napa Street Pier while maintaining an Art Studio at the Industrial Center Building.

I was in the right place at the right time with the right skills when LucasFilm moved their Studio north to Marin County and came to my ICB Studio looking for Artists.

Since making the decision to leave ILM to return to my own Art, I have simplified my tools. My Art practice takes place in the solitude of my Ojai Studio. My focus is Graphite on Paper drawing "Stuff I Like".Contemporary Botanicals, Flora and Fauna, Creatures from my imagination, Flotsam and Jetsam from the Sea, Rope and Gear, Tentacles, Antennae, Wings and Claws and Insects of my own Design are what I like and what I Draw.
