My extensive travels through national forests, parks, preserves as well as the California coastline inspire my work.
I explore light, shadow and sound with color and texture on a hard surface that allows me to respond to my environment with a physicality that is imprinted, built up or scratched into the surface.
Many times, I paint plein air and use small sketches to inspire larger works, abstracting shapes and employing textures that hint at – but don’t necessarily represent a space in the physical world.
