How would I embroider a tangerine?
It starts with a teasing question.
Would I first cut it in half and poke through the flesh?
Or, is it like taxidermy: I turn the tangerine — as the mouse — inside-out?
I practice until I can peel the skin off in one piece. I chew it over some more.
Could I laser-cut a guide for the stitches or do I follow its natural pores?
Do I use a blanket stitch?
Unable to sleep, I grab the fruit bowl.
There’s always a roadblock — a missing tool or piece; a workaround.
Wasted fruit.
I return to bed, sticky; waiting for the next puzzle.
