Leslie Clark: Memories and a paintbrush

by | Aug 13, 2022

The many years I have spent traveling and living among nomads in Africa have left me with volumes of sketches, photos and ideas. When I delve into my journals I am reminded of paintings I envisioned. These are newly completed from a sketch or a memory that inspired me. The young Tuareg boy leading his camels to pasture passed by where I was camped.

Leading the Camels, 30 x 40″ Oil and collage on canvas.

The Wodaabe girl with the green umbrella posed proudly at a nomadic festival.    Girl with the Green Umbrella 24×24″ Oil on canvas.

Nesboune is one of the students at a school I started for nomads in Niger. Nesboune 20×20″ Oil on Canvas.
