Cindy Pitou Burton: Life Lived as a Photographer

Updated: Mar 21, 2024

I spent 16 active years as a photojournalist in NYC, first working for the NY Times, expanding to CBS, NBC, PBS, magazines and corporations.

Moving to a quieter Ojai, I began photographing the western landscape, experimenting with different mediums.

Negative transfers enchanted me with the painterly way it transformed each print.

Archival sepia prints of the west reminded me of old postcards and led to photographing flowers on a light box as I rediscovered color. All of these influence my photographs, occasionally in combination.

A life lived as a photographer, from photojournalist to fine art.
