Lisa Skyheart Marshall: Morning Glories

I love to get out in the world and travel. Being with people in other countries, hearing their languages and listening to their stories. It's always good for opening my mind as well as inspiring my work. This painting of morning glories was inspired by some flowers I saw while traveling in Mexico.  I was really drawn to the vibrant blue along with the white variety, which I don't recall seeing before.  Someone I met in Mexico called them "broken plates". These particular flowers were rambling along a fence next to a dirt road near an artist's house. I enjoyed showing the opacity of the white blossoms with leaves and blue flowers showing through underneath and added lots of ink details. The morning glory closes and opens, rests and awakens. The best travel adventures occur for me when I stay open to experiences and allow time to take them in.
