Six young artists awarded scholarships in 2022

The Ojai Studio Artists awarded $10,000 in scholarships to six talented high school and college students living in the Ojai Valley at an awards ceremony at the Ojai Valley Museum on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm.
The winners are Malia Barreras-Float, 19, a sophomore at Ventura Community, who will receive the Marta Nelson Award. Maddie Brannan, 18, a Nordhoff High School senior will be awarded the Gayel Childress Award. Violet Ruby, 17, a senior at Parson’s the New School, is receiving the Beatrice Wood Award. Grace Wynn, 18, an Oak Grove School senior, will be awarded The Horace Bristol Award. Krystal Lau, 17, a Villanova Preparatory School senior, and Esmeralda Velasquez, a 20 year-old sophomore at Ventura Community College, will also be awarded scholarships at the museum ceremony.
The artists all spoke briefly about their artistic goals and future educational plans. They are all gifted artists with exciting and promising futures ahead of them.
