P-22, the fierce mountain lion known for living in the area-limited habitat of Griffith Park and the Santa Monica Mountains, was tagged and followed in awe by biologists and ecologists. He also was beloved by the people of LA who marveled at his having crossed multiple freeways many times, and survival for so many years on the edges of one of the nation's largest cities. To everyone's dismay, P-22 was euthanized in June of 2023 after being found with multiple injuries and illnesses.
