A Shibori Afternoon

Ten artists met on Monday May 9, 2022 to create some Shibori banners for the upcoming OVLC/OSA event on Sat May 14th.

The group enthusiastically learned how to fold paper and dip in  dyes to create their own interpretations of the classical Japanese "shibori" - a tie-dye technique that involves folding and dying fabric. The OSA artists folded long reams of paper into patterns then dipped them in food-coloring dyes to create gorgeous banners that will be displayed at the upcoming event.

The rich colors and patterns became apparent as the papers were unfolded, leaving all participants delighted with their surprise creations. You'll see them hanging as banners at the joint  fundraising event on Saturday that will support both the Ojai Studio Artists and the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy.

Thank you to Pamela Grau for hosting the event.
