MAKE A DIFFERENCE " GET OUT OF YOUR CHAIR"

I wanted to make a political statement with this assemblage piece using the words of the musician Bob Marley:

GET UP

STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS

GET UP,

STAND UP,

DON'T GIVE UP THE FIGHT"

" STAND UP"

Each of my 14 hand built chairs is between 5-9 inches.

Painted with copper acrylic paint

Covered with hand printed Japanese Indigo fabric and painted with orange acrylic

The frame of each chair was created with wire that I bent into shape.

Developing the frame

I then added either wood, cardboard, tape or fabric to build up the form

They were then covered with plaster tape and liquid plaster, sanded smooth, a gesso primer added, painted with acrylic, or collaged with paper or fabric.

Each chair in the assemblage is sold separately.
