Arts Council of Conejo Valley awarded my "Borealis Star Trails Over the Valley" a first place award in the last competition. What an honor!
I shot this on May 11, the night after the Aurora Borealis was seen around the world due to a massive G5 solar magnetic storm. Cameras and cell phones were able to pick up the intense magenta purple colors in the skies.
I stacked over 300 images together to produce the star trails effect rotating around the North Star Polaris.
If you look closely, you can see magenta above the mountains in the background in the center of the frame.
