Brian Berman: Art Adventures in Peace Building

ree

This September has been packed with events that highlight my life as an Artist for Peace. I have the goal of completing my new website before the end of this month. I am combining the three primary media of my art. I will feature Sculptures, HOLOS Amulets, and Wall Artworks, and add additional peace products and publications. The new website is BrianBerman.art

I had the goal of completing my memoir and publishing it through Amazon by International Peace Day, September 21st. It is titled “The Unseen Hand: My Journey of Becoming”. This memoir shares my journey from childhood trauma, hardship, and loss. I turned my hands into stone carving to heal from my losses and became a Peacebuilder. I will be presenting on September 28 from 4:30-6 pm at the Ojai Valley Museum, a Town Talk on the Healing Power of Art.

Once my memoir was completed, I have to wait for the published bulk order to arrive in time for the OSA Studio Tour. I ordered copies from Amazon, and one special copy was for Barbara Gaughen-Muller in Santa Barbara. Lisa and I drove to gift her a signed copy, as she graciously wrote the Foreword.

Lisa and I traveled to Los Angeles to attend an awards ceremony and install a Peace Pole at the Yamashiro Restaurant Gardens in Hollywood. We worked with the creators of a children’s book to help children learn about Peace. The book is titled Yumi, and it’s beautifully animated with a visual feast for children’s eyes.

We stayed in LA with friends from as far away as Tokyo, St Louis, MO, Maryland, and Boulder, Colorado. We traveled to the Lake Shrine meditation gardens in Santa Monica. Here, Lisa and I presented our 2025 Awakening Peace Award to Dr. Marty K. Casey.

On September 21, Lisa and I were the speakers to open Ojai’s Peace Day celebration and share the history of how we became a City of Peace. We were founders of Ojai becoming an International City of Peace in 2014. In April 2015, the Ojai City Council proclaimed that we are officially the 99th International City of Peace. So, this Peace Day event marked the 10th anniversary.

On September 23rd, I was invited to present my Memoir highlights for a Peace Podcast with Barbara GaughentiMuller. I was on her 179th Podcast, and she said her podcasts are on Spotify, iTunes, and more sites. She sent me this link today, and I share it here for your enjoyment. https://peacepodcast.org/a-new-roafdmap-for-living-a-meaninful-life-brian-bermans-memoir-the-unseen-hand/

May Peace Prevail on Earth is the inscription of our Peace Pole, which I made many years ago. It is standing in our front yard.

Brian, your journey from personal trauma to becoming an Artist for Peace is truly inspiring—a perfect subject for a memoir like The Unseen Hand. The way art helped you heal and become a Peacebuilder is a powerful narrative thread. Sharing such a complex, transformative story requires immense skill to capture all the emotion and detail. For others with similar profound life journeys, the decision to hire a autobiography writer is often the key to ensuring their powerful message is professionally crafted and shared with the world.
