What an amazing day it was, February 14th - Valentine's Day.
Little did I know that our plans for the day included the birth of our granddaughter, our third grandchild.

So I've been working on two glass castings that I created in the Czech Republic back when I was volunteering in Poland due to the war in the Ukraine. These two castings were to continue my HOLOS Amulet series of sculptures and wearable jewelry artworks.

I wanted to mate the two halves into one sculpture looking something like this.

They don't line up as the two castings were slightly offset from the top to the bottom. I thought that maybe if I cast or cut another piece of glass that would act as a unifying layer. I immediately felt the metaphor of Unity when there are differences between cultures. The HOLOS design represents to me a symbol for our One Humanity.

I thought about using a sheet of glass, or maybe using a 1/4" sheet of copper between the castings.

Then I purchased a 3/8" frosted plate glass in a circular pattern with a center hole to match the center hole in the top and bottom castings.

But could I copy the pattern and have that cut the glass. I created a pattern, and after multiple attempts to convert it into what was needed to cut the glass using a CAD DXF file format. I received some help from a supportive friend, but the glass cutting company continued to reject my patterns.
I am now waiting for the glass company to supply the glass cut into the pattern, and with some additional carving of the glass, it will become a unified assemblage, a transformation of two into one. I'll submit a photo once the sculpture is completed.
