Christopher Noxon: Workshop for Creative Reinvention

As we head into the holiday season, I'm working on a bunch of oddball experimental projects – stay tuned for a series of circular rotating paintings and clusters of PA speakers transformed into music-making floral arrangements. All the while, I'm still cranking out original artwork and prints of the phantasmagorical Ojai Valley. Check my website for available pieces – they make great gifts!
Five years into my adventure of full-time artmaking, I'm loving the challenge of making new things.
I'm excited to share more about that process and help spur your own creative experimentation in a workshop I'm hosting with partner Rebecca Odes called THE MIDLIFE RENWAL LAB.
The workshop is offered as part of a holiday show titled "Ojai: The Experience" at Cassandra Jones' new MEGAGALLERY, opening Thursday, December 11 from 5-8 pm. The exhibit features 19 posters advertising special classes and activities offered by local creative professionals. As Cassandra puts it, "You can buy an experience and download the poster as a ticket to give as a gift this holiday season. Less stuff. More memories and connecting with real humans."
(Also on offer: workshops on letterpress, gumbo, painted T-shirts, clowning, basketmaking, and songwriting. So fun!)
THE MIDLIFE RENEWAL LAB is designed for anyone (40ish to 60ish) contemplating a creative pivot or simply curious about what's possible in this chapter of life. We'll use art, writing, and hands-on exercises to help reframe midlife as a time of opportunity and possibility. You'll leave with new perspectives, mixed-media artwork, a personal journal, and tools to help navigate your way through the second half of life. We'll end with a cocktail hour and light bites.
