Renata (reborn)

The theme of our new OSA show at the Ojai Valley Museum is Metamorphosis. Taken literally, it is the change from an immature to an adult form in insects and amphibians - but we also seem to apply it to change in humans.

My piece in this show, titled Renata (a female name which means reborn in Latin), is a multi-media construction of a young woman who I photographed years ago. First I painted my subject and then used papers, writings and imagery from my own life to construct a dream-like interpretation of the change she may see in her future: her dreams, the struggles, the loves, the explorations and adventures.

It is also a metamorphosis of my own style: from paint evolving to multi-media. Come see the show - there are many wonderful interpretations of "metamorphosis" by our OSA artists to be viewed.

The museum is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
