This past week I’ve been immersed in the world of botanical drawing on the island of Kauai. I’ve been at the educational center at the McBryde-Allerton gardens learning new techniques and going back to basics with teachers of Draw Botanical. We visited the National Tropical Botanical Garden library and herbarium.
We went on garden walks to carefully select specimens to work from. It’s reminded me how much I love drawing and what a vital part of my work it is. Being with artists who love plants as much as I do and who work as slowly as I do in such a gorgeous setting has been paradise for me.
