Lisa Skyheart Marshall: Feeling attachments to nature

When I create a new painting, I am basing it on my observations out in nature as well as my own feelings of attachment to flowers, birds and insects. Examples of this would be: My Italian grandfather planted a bird-of-paradise plant when my father was born, so I associate that plant with both of those men.  Apricot tree blossoms remind me of my own, beloved trees and the delicious apricots they produce once a year. Butterflies are a frequent subject because they remind me to appreciate that which does not last forever. The magical part comes when You are looking at my work and feel a connection of your own. I didn't know I was making that painting for You, but I was.
