Lisa Skyheart Marshall: Parakeets invade orchid show!

This week I entered a painting in the art exhibit for the Santa Barbara International Orchid show, which is a paradise for orchid lovers.

The painting, "Parakeets at the Orchid Show" was inspired by my visit to last year's event. I imagined a pair of parakeets enjoying themselves perched among the gorgeous blooms which sported a second place ribbon. I used "second place" ironically since how can you choose the best flower among so many best flowers?

Imagine my surprise when I found out that my painting was awarded Second place at the art exhibit?!!
