Leslie Clark: Where a sketch leads

When I travel one of the most fun aspects is the connections I make with people through the sketches I do. I did the sketch of Lupe far left in a tiny village in the altiplano of Bolivia. When I brought my sketchbook back to camp at dinner our cook wanted to see what I had drawn and she cried out--that's Lupe--my mother. She then insisted I do a sketch of her--so I did. Mother and daughter side by side in my sketchbook. The oil painting of Lupe is the studio result.
