Wyatt Amend: Coming Back Home

I’m very excited to be returning to my home town of Ojai with what I consider to be some of the finest pottery of my career. After countless experiments and tests, I decided to do even more experiments and tests on the actual pieces I’m bringing to the tour.

While the technique of layering multiple glazes in geometric patterns has only grown in complexity, so also has the number of colors and textures grown in number, creating countless combinations to apply to my pots. Some of the newer pieces move away from traditional pottery forms to a more refined shape to be used as a canvas for painting with the glazes.

I’m always excited to bring my work home to Ojai. My parents, artists Susan Stinsmuehlen Amend and Richard Amend and I always team up to make the house look museum quality and this year will be no different!
