There’s a specific kind of energy in the days leading up to an open studio tour. It is the end of a cycle of making. My studio is currently in complete disarray. There is a batch of freshly glazed pots waiting to go into the kiln; my sweet husband is rushing to install large fans ahead of the hot weekend,;floors need sweeping; shelves need organizing, etc.

There is also an air of excited anticipation for the upcoming open studio weekend. By the time you arrive, the kiln will be unloaded, the studio will be clean, and the shelves will be stocked with new ware.
