Art Becomes You

A work of art evolves - in my case often from a blank white canvas to a finished piece full of color, personality and a place in one's heart. Often they hang on my studio wall or sit on a display shelf for months, making their presence known. They secure a physical place and mental space in my day-to-day life. One grows attached.

I like to say "Art Becomes You" meaning both it looks good around you in your home, but also because it becomes a part of life for the one who owns it.

This piece, titled "Caught" was a relatively newcomer in my painting practice, and it didn't live with me long. A thoughtful collector snapped her up during our Fall Tour. I am always happy to see a piece find its place in someone else's life and story, but I'll miss her.

Thank you to all those who came by my studio this last week. If you'd like to revisit a piece, or just come say hi and see me in my messy studio, connect with me at jgrist@mac.com.
