Guccio Gucci was the famed founder of the luxury fashion house we all know as Gucci. When he worked as a young man at the Savoy Hotel in London, he noticed the beautiful high-end luggage the guests of the hotel used. This all sparked his inspiration, and when he moved back to Italy, he brought with him a vision for his company that went on to sell fine leather goods. Later, his three sons went on to expand the company into what we now know today and which now includes high-end fashion as well.

Here, I have created a monotype portrait of Guccio Gucci in his middle years. You can see this piece in person at the Ojai Valley Museum show which opens on Thursday, August 20th and the opening reception will be Friday, August 21st from 5-7pm. I hope you can attend. The exhibition will be up in the Museum until October 12th, coinciding with the Ojai Studio Artists Tour. I have decided to take this year off from the Tour due to a serious health issue I have been dealing with. But I hope to see you next year on the Second Saturday OSA Tour in June!
