Amends on Second Saturday East End Tour, Saturday, June 13!!
Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend
May 28, 2026

Always a joy for our family of makers to show together in our studios. Wyatt Amend is working on his own work @wyattamendceramics and is also the lead fabricator of work for Forrest Middelton at flmceramics.com in Petaluma. So we are always glad for his return to Ojai to work and show here in Ojai. Wyatt will have new functional works as well as spectacular larger vessels using a newly developed glaze technique that features a very painterly surface. Richard Amend continues his paintings based on patterns and structure of tree forms, both abstract and interpretive. Richard features gold leaf in many of his paintings adding another level to the surface; a juxtaposition of surface reflection and painterly depth.
Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend, continues her "Whimsey" Series, wild renderings of doodles in stained glass. Susan is also showing a work from 1981, from the "X Series", an example of work done in the same time frame as the "Tough Stuff, Women in the American Glass Studio" which just opened at the Corning Museum of Glass. Several early works of Susan's are shown in this exhibition and will be included in a catalogue. So curious to look back 40+ years at the beginning of her career in glass, amazing, really.
So come by and see what is happening at the Amend Art Compound on your OSA tour through Ojai's East End /Upper Ojai artists studios on Saturday, June 13!!
