Glass, Ceramics and Paintings!
Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend
Jun 3, 2026

A few samples of work to be seen on this three-artist tour: Richard Amend, Wyatt Amend and Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend. Things are always changing in our studios which is an excellent reason to stop by.
Richard's painting, Sisar, excellently portrays a hidden creek along Sisar trail in Upper Ojai. He will also be showing his geometric abstraction paintings. It's OK to express two ways of seeing and thinking about the visual world at once.
Wyatt continues to bewilder with his phenomenal ceramic skills. Glazes and patterns on his work are truly unique, precise. One-of-a-kind cups will be shown alongside extraordinary large vessel forms, truly canvases for glaze pattern experimentation.
Susan continues with her "Whimseys" Series, modest glass works based on unconscious doodles, line drawings in space capturing beautiful hand blown sheet glass. Also, a work from 1981 is in the studio, "X Valentine", a stained glass wall panel. Recently included in the exhibition, "Tough Stuff, Women in American Glass Studio", groundbreaking work of women from 1960s-1980s, at the Corning Museum of Glass (catalogue forthcoming), this work by Stinsmuehlen-Amend is an example of experimentation and rule-breaking going on at that time. And a sidestep into 3D stained glass, "A Woman's House" featuring glass painting, glass decal and hand blown glass.
Come see these works and more this Saturday, June 13 at the family art compound during this Second Saturday Tour, June 13, 2026..
