My work centers around embodied experience…we all share that!
My definition for embodied experience that intersects our rational mind / our words/ our spirit…we call that emotion. You cannot take the mind nor body out of emotion ~ it is simple where they meet and there shall Never be twain.
Sensitivity is a hot topic in this complex world…of assertions, images, politics and personal experiences.
I feel the powerful could use some more sensitivity and the disempowered deserve to have their powerful experiences recognized, even celebrated!
As both a lifelong artist and an art teacher to the most privileged and the most under resourced in our communities, I can say with near scientific data reliability, we human beans all possess creative spirit and brilliance. challenge me on it! I will provide ample proof. With this creativity comes sensitivity….its what I use in my art process.
Sensitivity to color, to the tactile qualities of the paper of canvas, but mainly to the human being in front of me (as I do live art from live models and musicians)..there’s the air in the room, the lighting, the feelings around and inside of me and before me into the person in front of me.
I do not consider this genius…it is standard operating equipment for us all. This I know is true.
Having reemerged from a five year cancer battle, and able to do the very very physical art-making that my practice demands, I revel in the invitation for you to come talk about Soul….yours, mine and the living in the grand village that we are blessed to inhabit.
