OSA artitsts will be showcasing their interpretation of the Taft Gardens and Nature Preserve, a 200+ acre botanical garden located on the outskirts of the Ojai Valley, in a show at the Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo. The show will open with a public reception on Sat June 7, 4-6 pm and continue through July 25.
Invited to visit and envision the Taft Gardens in their own visual interpretation, some four dozen OSA artists spent time individually and in groups exploring the nooks and crannies of the gardens as well as the vistas, the ancient groves of native flora and the evocative gardens featuring Australian and South African plant species. The Taft Gardens were established in the late 1980's by John Taft, now 91 years old, whose legacy of land conservation and love of nature created a world-class secret garden in the foothills of Ojai. The artists have been working for months exploring the gardens and will bring them to life in sculpture, paint, fiber arts, jewelry and mixed media in this two month long exhibition.
