When I am not traveling, native plants and flowers capture my imagination. I do what I consider portraits of them. This delicate tulip combines both as it was in a vast garden in Kashmir. I decided to paint it on a rusted metal panel. The juxtaposition of the rugged rust and the delicate translucent petals intrigued me.
