Brian Berman: From Auschwitz to Hiroshima

Updated: Sep 16

After the Studio Tour in 2022, my wife Lisa and I flew to Poland to volunteer with the One Humanity Institute in Auschwitz, at their House of Hope. There were 9 apartments created, which housed Ukrainian mothers and their children. Lisa and I facilitated peace programs with youth and groups that would come to Auschwitz and help shift traumas to peace within.

In June of last year, we participated in a delegation from 10 different countries dealing with the Holocaust and the horrors of war. Two sisters came from Japan and invited us to visit Tokyo, Japan for a Peace Pilgrimage then to Mt Fuji, concluding in Hiroshima on International Peace Day, September 21. They represent the May Peace Prevail on Earth International organization. They inspired us to come together in Japan with internationally recognized peacebuilders.

Once we are back from Japan, we will publicly share our experiences in Japan. I will also exhibit my latest 2-dimensional wall art, which I created in Krakow, Poland. I also created a few cast glass sculptures in the Czech Republic.

As an Artist for Peace, the experiences I bring back from Japan will influence my next series of artworks, both 2-dimensional and 3D sculptures.

We have a new home on 97 Taormina Lane, please come by during the 3 days of the Studio Tour. I look forward to meeting you during the tour.
