Leslie Plimpton: The Cost of Fashion

Have you ever thought about the cost of fashion? By that I mean the cost of the workers who make the garments and fight for their wages, the cost to the environment when we no longer want these garments, or the increasing cost of the garments themselves.

There is so much that goes into the making of the garments we wear. There are designers, like Stella McCartney who are trying to address the sustainability of the garments she makes and it has been catching on with other designers. I created this dress of garment tags as I thought about these aspects of the fashion that I love. You can see my garment tag dress at the Ojai Valley Museum which will be on display through October 12th.
