DECORATED EGGS

Other

2X2"

As a multimedia artist I work with different surfaces and styles. I am inspired by the seasons. In the spring of the year when I chickens produce an abundance of eggs, I decorate them. Using an ancient technique, I apply melted wax with a fine tool called a kiska to draw my patterns. I then dye them with successive colors and more wax, saving each color by covering it over with melted beeswax. The wax is removed in the end and the design shows like magic. Each egg tells a story and the symbols and patterns have been used for hundreds of years. You can visit my studio and see the ongoing collection each year. I ship these eggs all over the world to people who are interested in purchasing them. The prices range anywhere from $85-150.00 each.
