This happy piece is in my studio and I created it many years ago when I was working with handmade paper from Japan. It is a wax and dye process that is called batik and generally done on fabric. In the 1980's I started doing this process on the beautiful handmade papers that became more accessible in this country. In the 1970's I wrote the book The ABC's of Batik that was published by Chilton Book Company.
