Richard Flores

Critically burned, not expected to live and scheduled to amputate both arms changed when after given last rights, Richard continued to survive and after more than a decade of reconstructive and plastic surgeries (and a lot of determination) not only regained the use of his hands but found a miracle oasis in art; primarily ceramics, glass and sculpture. Working with the clay in particular became magical along with his basic love of the Earth and being able to birth unique forms out of the clay with the reconstructed hands he worked so hard to make use of again. The only delight more warming to his heart now is to share this excitement with someone who resonates with the work he’s created.

Some accolades include a full tuition scholarship to Brooks Institute and Santa Barbara Art Institute, Santa Barbara, California; multiple scholarships from LAPC, Woodland Hills, California; multiple scholarships from CSU Northridge, California; multiple scholarships from Cal Earth Institute, Hesperia, California; Professor of the Year at College of the Sequoias, Visalia, California and is also the inventor of the “Flower Tack” related to the work first developed for NASA by renowned architect and author Nader Khalili regarding architectural construction for human colonisation on the moon and Mars.
