ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice is constantly evolving—an exploration of new mediums, layered meaning, and deeper functionality. After decades as an artist, my work has unfolded in chapters, each one revealing a different facet of who I am and how I see the world.
Lately, my greatest joy has come from road trips—those open-ended wanderings have sparked a fresh body of paintings and collages, filled with flowers, birds, fish, and a kind of nostalgic sweetness that mirrors the current flow of my life. I begin many pieces on my iPad, drawing intuitively, then translate them into richly layered, hand-painted collages in the studio.
I love paint—its tactile, visceral nature. There’s a raw pleasure in plunging my hands into the chaos of it. My paintings are spontaneous, messy, and unguarded. In contrast, my drawings chase elegance and restraint, striving for simplicity and precision. That interplay—the tension between chaos and control—is the throughline in my work. It’s where the emotional depth lives.
